ID card software · IT · Software · Building

Three specialist divisions.
One team that actually answers.

4MEC keeps UK organisations running — the IT they depend on, the software they wish they had, and the commercial building work most contractors turn down.

New CleanLytics ID Badge Designer — ID card software for Windows and Mac. £175 per PC, one-off.

Trusted by offices and professional practices, industrial and retail operators, landlords and managing agents, healthcare and education premises — from a five-person office to a multi-site operation.

Our own software — out now

ID card software for Windows and Mac. Buy it once.

Most ID card software is Windows-only, sold by subscription, and stops at the printer. CleanLytics ID Badge Designer runs on both platforms, costs £175 per PC as a one-off, and writes the cardholder straight into your access control system.

Card designer

Single or double-sided badges with your own layouts, logos, photos, barcodes and variable fields — designed once, used by everyone.

Cardholder database

Point it at SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL or SQLite — read-write or read-only against a system you already run. CSV import if you'd rather not.

Photos, handled

Capture from a webcam or import a file, and the background comes off automatically. No Photoshop step, no inconsistent badges.

Printing and encoding

Prints through the card printer's own driver, so it works with the printer you already own. Magnetic stripe and contactless (NFC/RFID) encoding in the same pass.

Access control sync

Sends people, cards and access levels to Paxton Net2, Gallagher, Brivo, Verkada and Avigilon Alta — or to any REST API or webhook. Issue the badge and the door already knows.

Expiry and audit

Expiry dates, renewal lists and reports that export to CSV — so contractor and visitor cards stop working when they should.

Multi-user from the start: several machines share the same cardholder data, and changes move between sites securely. Roll it out with an MSI through Intune or Group Policy, or a signed PKG through Jamf.

Division — IT Support

IT support that behaves like an in-house team

Most IT problems stay small until nobody picks up the phone. You get a named team who already know your setup, agreed response times, and monitoring that spots faults before your staff report them.

Managed IT support

Remote and on-site support under one fixed monthly fee. No surprise invoice because a printer misbehaved on a Friday afternoon.

Helpdesk & response

One number, one portal, one team — running on ticketing software we wrote ourselves. Priority-based response times written into the agreement, not implied by it.

Networks & Wi-Fi

Structured cabling, switching, firewalls and business-grade wireless, designed around the building you actually have.

Microsoft 365

Migration, licensing, SharePoint and Teams — configured with the security settings most tenants never get switched on.

Cyber security

Endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, patching, phishing simulation and Cyber Essentials readiness.

Backup & continuity

Versioned, off-site and tested. We restore from your backups on a schedule, so the first real test isn't a real emergency.

Cloud & servers

Hosted desktops, Azure, hybrid environments and on-premise servers kept patched, monitored and documented.

Procurement & rollout

Hardware sourced, imaged, asset-tagged and delivered ready for staff to log straight in to.

Built in-house

The helpdesk you log tickets into, we wrote ourselves

Most IT companies resell somebody else's ticketing platform, which means when you need it to do something different, the answer is no. Ours was built by our own software division and it is the system our engineers work in every day — so when a client needs an extra field, a different SLA clock or a report their board will actually read, we change it.

You get a portal to raise and track tickets, email and phone routing into the same queue, visibility of what is open and who has it, and monthly reporting on response and resolution times against what we agreed.

  • PortalRaise, track and comment on tickets without chasing anyone
  • RoutingPhone, email and portal all land in one queue
  • SLA clockResponse and resolution timed against your agreement
  • Asset linkTickets tied to the device, site and user they came from
  • ReportingMonthly performance you can hold us to
  • ChangeableWe built it, so we can adapt it to how you work

Every support agreement includes

  • A named engineer and a clear escalation route
  • 24/7 monitoring and alerting on servers and network
  • An asset register kept current, not rebuilt annually
  • Quarterly review with plain-English recommendations
  • Full documentation and credentials that belong to you
  • No lock-in — thirty days' notice, and we hand over properly

Division — Software Design

Software designed around the way you already work

Off-the-shelf systems make you change your process to suit the software. We do it the other way round — and we stay on after launch, because the interesting problems only appear once real people start using it.

Websites

Fast, accessible, properly structured sites you can edit yourself — built for search and built to load on a phone in a car park with one bar of signal.

Web applications

Portals, booking systems, dashboards and internal tools that replace the shared spreadsheet everyone is now afraid to touch.

Mobile apps

iOS and Android for field teams, engineers and customers — working offline where the signal doesn't, syncing when it returns.

Bespoke business systems

Quoting, scheduling, stock, job records, compliance evidence: the system your business genuinely runs on, not a generic CRM bent into shape.

Integrations & APIs

Getting your accounts package, CRM and operational systems to talk to each other, so nobody is retyping the same order three times.

Support & iteration

Hosting, monitoring, security updates and a shared backlog — so the software keeps improving long after the invoice is settled.

  1. Discover

Half a day on site watching how the work is actually done — not how the process document says it is.

  2. Define

A written scope with a fixed price, screens sketched out, and no jargon you have to decode before signing.

  3. Build

Two-week cycles. At the end of each one there is working software you can click on and tell us we got wrong.

  4. Launch

Data migrated, staff trained, and a real person on the end of the phone on day one — not a ticket queue.

  5. Support

Monitoring, updates and a roadmap we work through together as the business changes shape.

CleanLytics ID Badge Designer

Design, print and encode staff and visitor ID badges on Windows and Mac — a card designer, photos with automatic background removal, magnetic stripe and contactless encoding, expiry dates and reports. Every feature is free to try for 14 days.

Division — Bespoke Building Services

Commercial fit-out, and the rooms nobody else will take on

We build and refurbish commercial space — offices, industrial units, retail and healthcare premises — and we take on the purpose-built, sealed and controlled rooms most contractors quietly decline to quote. Survey, drawings, price and build under one contract.

Commercial premises only

We work for businesses, landlords, managing agents and public sector clients. We don't take on domestic work — no house extensions, no home renovations — and we would rather tell you that in the first phone call than waste a week of your time.

  1. Survey & feasibility

We measure up, look at what the building will actually take, and tell you honestly what is possible before anyone commits to a budget.

  2. Design & drawings

Layouts, specifications and drawings — so you can see what you are buying, and so can your landlord, your agent and building control.

  3. Programme & price

A fixed price against a defined scope, and a programme built around your trading hours rather than ours.

  4. Build

Our own team on site with trades we have used for years. Dust, noise and access managed around the people still trying to work in the building.

  5. Handover

Snagged, cleaned, certificates and O&M information handed over, and a defects period that means something.

What we build

Office fit-out

Partitioning, glazed fronts, meeting rooms, ceilings, flooring, decoration and furniture — a finished space, not a series of trades you have to coordinate yourself.

Refurbishment & reconfiguration

Reworking the space you already have: knocking through, re-planning floors and bringing tired premises up to standard without moving out.

Partitioning & glazing

Solid, demountable and glazed partition systems, acoustic-rated where the room needs to hold a private conversation.

Ceilings, flooring & finishes

Suspended and MF ceilings, raised access floors, vinyl, carpet tile and resin, plus full decoration and making good.

Industrial & warehouse works

Mezzanine floors, offices and welfare built inside units, racking areas, roller shutters and pedestrian segregation.

Shell, CAT A and CAT B

Taking a developer's shell or a CAT A floor through to a working CAT B fit-out, ready for an occupier to move into.

Comms & server rooms

Purpose-built rooms with the containment, cooling, power and access control the equipment actually needs — specified alongside our own IT division.

Sealed & controlled rooms

Gas-tight and sealed enclosures, controlled-environment rooms, interlocked doors and viewing panels — built to a written specification rather than a catalogue.

Secure stores & enclosures

Secure storage, plant rooms and acoustic enclosures built into space you already have, without taking the building out of use.

Typical projects

What we are usually asked to build

Most of our work falls into a handful of shapes. If yours doesn't appear here, it is worth a phone call anyway — the awkward ones are normally the reason clients came to us in the first place.

We are equally comfortable pricing against your own architect's drawings and producing the drawings ourselves, and we work alongside project managers, agents and in-house facilities teams as often as we run a job outright.

Where we work

Offices & professional servicesIndustrial & warehousingRetail & hospitalityHealthcare premisesEducationLaboratories & controlled environmentsLandlords & managing agentsPublic sector
Do you work in buildings that are still occupied?

Most of the time, yes — that is the normal case rather than the exception. We phase the works, agree access and out-of-hours periods before we start, and control dust, noise and routes so the rest of the building carries on trading.

Do you take on domestic work?

No. Commercial premises only — offices, industrial units, retail, healthcare, education and public sector buildings. We don't quote house extensions, loft conversions or home renovations.

Can you handle the whole project?

Yes. Survey, drawings, pricing, build and handover under one contract with one point of contact, so there is nobody to fall between. If you would rather we priced against someone else's design, that's fine too.

What counts as a specialist room?

Anything that has to be built to a performance specification rather than picked from a catalogue — sealed and gas-tight enclosures, controlled environments, interlocked doors, secure stores, plant and acoustic enclosures. These are usually the jobs other contractors won't price, and they are a large part of what we do.

How small a job will you take?

Small enough to be worth doing properly. A single meeting room or a comms room is a normal week for us; we will tell you honestly if a job is better suited to a local jobbing contractor.

About 4MEC

One supplier, three problems solved

4MEC Limited is a UK company built around a straightforward idea: the people who understand your systems should be the same people who answer when something breaks.

We started in IT support, added software because clients kept asking for systems nobody sold them, and built the building division when clients kept needing their premises changed and no contractor would take on the awkward parts. All three still work the same way — small teams, direct contact, and work we are prepared to put our name on.

  • You speak to the people doing the work

No call centre, no account manager relaying messages to an engineer you never meet.

  • Everything in writing, in plain English

Scopes, response times and prices you can actually check us against.

  • We build things other people won't

The bespoke division exists because a client had a problem with no supplier attached to it.

  • Your systems belong to you

Documentation, credentials and source code are yours. If you ever leave, we hand over properly.
